Boiled Egg parcels
I do!
Why?
Because..Hard boiled eggs are not only a quick breakfast option but they also have a lot of protiens, fats and essential vitamins to keep your heart, eyes and bones healthy.
But sometimes it happens that you get bored of eating the same type of breakfast. Plain boiled eggs! Who doesn't like a bit of a variation? Plus I'm the kind of girl who would like a different dish everyday (lol..another reason why mom is fed up)
And now that my exams are over(partially though), I have lots of time and energy and ideas. So the other day I just marched into the kitchen like a chef de cuisine, took the boiled egg in my hand and announced that it was going to get a makeover. The only problem was that I didnt know how!!
So I thought to experiment a bit. (The usual me)
Years ago (not really), I learnt to make tart crusts. And I thought of using that same recipe for making a little wrap for my boiled egg.
I took 1 cup flour(maida), added 6 tbsp white butter, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp baking powder and few tsps of cold water. Simply mix the flour, butter(melted), baking powder and salt and knead them by adding little water at a time so that it forms a dough.
Wrap it in a sandwich paper and keep it inside the fridge to cool for 15 min.
In the meantime I chopped 2 boiled eggs, 1 onion, 2 green chillies and mixed them all with a pinch of salt and a little red chilly powder. (Im always leaning towards the spicy side..you can avoid it if you don't like).
After taking out the dough from the fridge, take a small amount of it and flatten it out using a rolling pin (belan). Now cut the sides to get a square shape.
Take some cheese spread and apply it on this. Now take some pizza topping sauce and apply it. (These are the common ingredients found at my house, so I used them. You can use any spread of your choice.)
Put a tsp of the mix that you prepared with the eggs.
Now wrap the parcel. Start with one corner and fold it on the mix. repeat with all the sides overlapping each fold. Stick the joint in the middle with a drop of water.(You know how flour gets sticky when you add water)
Prepare all other parcels like this.
Now preheat your oven at 200°C.
Place these parcels in a baking tray and bake for 20min.
Check after 20 min if they are done. They will get a nice light brown shade. If they haven't, keep it for another 2 min. (That's beacause the temperature in every oven is slightly different)
Carefully pull them out. Serve with chilli sauce or ketchup or any of your favourite dip.
Breakfast ready. Boiled egg parcels. Now you have something new to try on for your next break. Have a go. Its tasty and easy and looks beautiful too. It may earn you some brownie points from your folks. Lol.
The summarised recipe is below. Since I made this entirely myself it is not adopted from any other blog. (And I call that progress ☻)
