Eggless Kiwi & Orange Custard Tartlet

I'm soon going to become the eggless Fruit Tart Queen, if that were a real thing! This year is becoming all about tarts for me! All I have been doing is experimenting with different fruity flavours of tarts.

And there are some solid reasons why I have found love in them-
  • They have fresh fruits and can be made in absolutely any flavour in the world.
  • They are quick and easy to make.
  • They look so beautiful and colourful that I can't resist but to make more.
  • My family and friends love to try all new fruit flavours and they are sure I'll rock them each time!!
What more do you want! Just follow the recipe below and in no time make these amazing tarts.
I made these EGGLESS KIWI & ORANGE CUSTARD TARTLETS for Independence day on 15h August, 2018 marking 72 years of our freedom in India and honouring the sacrifices done by all those who were involved in giving us what we have today. We owe are lives to them! And remembering them I made these tricolour tartlets. They are super easy and delicious and they look so pretty.

The tart crusts are the same ones I have been making in all my recent tart recipes. They are eggless and whole wheat and using sugar free/ honey.
The filling is divided into two parts- lightly sweet whipped cream and orange custard.
Find the recipe to these tarts below.

MEHTOD

For the Tart Crust

  1. Mix together the flour, sugar, butter and salt.
  2. Knead well to make a soft dough.
  3. Chill in the fridge for 1/2 hour and knead again.
  4. For braided tart base: Make small balls out of this, and roll them flat into a 4-inch circle. Take another small ball and make a long thread from it and braid three of them. Put this braid a s a border on the tart base. Alternate: you can simply make a plain tart crust in a tart pan.
  5. Pre heat the oven at 180 C and bake the tart crusts for 10-12 min.
For the filling

  1. Take the orange custard powder and mix in 1/2 cup cold water. Make sure it's completely mixed with no lumps.
  2. Now in a sauce pan take the rest of the milk, add sugar free powder, add the custard mix and cook until it boils.
  3. Add the orange pulp and cook for another 1min  or till the custard becomes thick. (You can also mash the orange pulp in a mixer before adding if you don't like fruit pieces in your custard and like it more smooth.)
  4. Let the custard cool down. Till then slice the kiwis in thin circles.
  5. Now fill the tart cups with one half whipped cream and other half with custard, topping with sliced kiwis.
  6. Chill for 15 min and serve.
Happy Eating!
